Lomo Loco – my journey to lomography begins

13 10 2009

First intrigued with the unique, random, wacky, images that I saw every now and then – that dreamy, nostalgic, and most of the time out of this world reality – I began to fall in love with it.  Lomo, an old Russian-made camera, that produces the notorious vignetty, highly or under saturated images did not meet the expectations at first of the ever competitive field of photography where ‘beauty’ is a must.  Beauty… hmmmm… isn’t it in the eye of the beholder?  anyhoo, after a few years people with low budget for cameras began to grab a hold of the old cameras in pawnshops.  During the late 70s and 80s, Lomography was born.  True to its era, lomography embodied free-spirited, highly experimenting attitude of the people back then.  Lomography, or lomo, was born.  Often described as happy accident, where one do not really know what will come out of that developed/printed film.

As said, “Lomography is life, light, love, lust, laughter, luck and many other words that don’t necessarily begin with L.” No rules, shoot from the hip, point and shoot, happy times… it was, still is and forever will be, appealing to my taste and lifestyle.  Therefore…

Diana Mini

I got myself a Mini Diana for my journey in lomography.  I chose this brand of lomocam due to its size… 3/4s my hand, its color is cool, it uses 35mm film – i won’t have any problem looking for 120mms, and true to its review, the unpredictability of the images is just amazing!

I was just able to have my 2nd roll of film developed and is itching for the next one!

Here are some thumbnails of my lomographs… enjoy! :)
